Quivira Golf Club to Host Third Annual Q Life Tournament
Scheduled for Friday, December 6, the 3rd Annual Q Life Two-Ball Shamble Tournament will be contested at Quivira Golf Club, the world-class Jack Nicklaus Signature design renowned for its dazzling views and unique challenges. This year’s event is extra-special because the golf club will mark its 10th anniversary in December.
The format for the two-person team event is a two-ball shamble. After both players tee off, the best tee shot is chosen. From there, the hole is played out at stroke play individually, with each golfer playing their own ball from the site of the selected tee shot (laying one). The best net score of the two players for each hole is recorded for the team.
Trophies for first, second and third place will be presented to the winning teams. The awards ceremony will take place during a post-tournament dinner at Sunset Parrillada at The Beach Club, an exclusive oceanfront venue.
Participation in the the Q Life Two-Ball Shamble Tournament is reserved for Quivira homeowners and longtime renters. Full-time owners at Copala, Coronado, Mavila, Alvar, St. Regis Residences, and Rosewood Residences Old Lighthouse qualify for the event. The tournament is also accepting Montecristo full owners and those who participate in the Q Life program at Tramonti, with the clarification that only owners of a unit/condo can enter the tournament, not renters or friends.
For players without a partner, the tournament committee can help find another single player to make the team.
Tournament reservations must be pre-paid in advance of the tournament day, Dec. 6. Like any other activity in the Q Life program, Quivira homeowners can charge their tournament inscription to their folio account. The club has a 48-hour cancellation policy.
The tournament entry fee will be announced this month. Stay tuned to Q Life correspondence for more details.
As for the venue, Quivira Golf Club, grafted onto a spectacular site at Land’s End, is an aesthetic triumph and engineering marvel that claims more oceanfront exposure than any other course in Los Cabos. Marked by sheer granite cliffs, huge windswept dunes and rolling desert foothills, this epic 7,019-yard layout offers an unforgettable test and exhilarating thrills from start to finish.
Among the more memorable holes is the short par-4 sixth, a strategic gem sited 275 feet above sea level. The slanted fairway traces the edge of a vertical cliff as it sweeps to the left and tumbles downhill to a rock-walled, cliff-hanging green high above the sea. After swinging near the historic lighthouse, the layout weaves through the dunes and returns to the cliffs at No. 13, a mammoth downhill par 5 that drops from the top of a dune and zigzags along an island-style fairway bounded on both sides by sand, its slim deep green within earshot of the sea. From any set of tees, this magnificent par 5 is a premier test of skill and judgement.
