Quivira Golf Club to Host Second Annual Q Life Tournament
Q Life, dedicated to the ‘Art of Fine Living,’ has organized a special golf event for community residents. Scheduled for Monday, December 4 at 7:00 a.m., the Second Annual Q Life Two-Ball Shamble Tournament will be contested at Quivira Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature design recently voted to Golf Digest’s roster of the “World’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses.”
The format for the two-person team event is a two-ball shamble. After both players tee off, the best tee shot is chosen. From there, the hole is played out at stroke play individually, with each golfer playing their own ball from the site of the selected tee shot (laying one). The best net score of the two players for each hole is recorded for the team.
Trophies for first, second, and third place will be presented to the winning teams. The awards ceremony will take place during a post-tournament dinner at Sunset Parrillada at The Beach Club, a stellar oceanfront venue.
Participation in The Q Life Two-Ball Shamble Tournament is reserved exclusively for Quivira homeowners and longtime renters. Full-time owners at Copala, Coronado, Mavila, Alvar, St. Regis Residences and Old Lighthouse Club qualify for the event. The tournament is also accepting Montecristo full owners and those who participate in the Q Life program at Tramonti, with the clarification that only owners of a unit/condo can enter the tournament, not renters or friends.
For players without a partner, the tournament committee can help find another single player to make the team.
Quivira Golf Club has a pre-paid policy for holding your space. Tournament reservations must be pre-paid in advance of the tournament day, Like any other activity in the Q Life program, Quivira homeowners will be able to charge the tournament fees to their folio account. The club has a cancellation policy of 48 hours.
The tournament entry fee will be announced this month. Stay tuned to Q Life correspondence for more details.
As for the venue, Quivira Golf Club, grafted onto a spectacular site at Land’s End, claims more oceanfront exposure than any other course in Los Cabos. Quivira has massive dunes, twisting arroyos, rolling foothills, acres of cactus, lots of rock…in sum, a little bit of everything Cabo has to offer.
Among the more memorable holes is the par-3 seventh, its concave green carved from the base of huge stippled dune. After swinging near a historic lighthouse, the layout weaves through the dunes and returns to the cliffs at the 14th, a tiny par 3 that plays across a yawning abyss to a wafer-like green set atop a pinnacle of granite that rises from the surf. Arguably the most daring, eclectic course Nicklaus has ever built, Quivira presents an unforgettable test from any set of tees.
