Letty Coppel Foundation Acquires Second Mobile Medical Unit
The Letty Coppel Foundation is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. For the past two decades, the foundation’s main goal has been to support those who need it most in the areas where Pueblo Bonito Resorts are located.
The residents, their environment, how they live and what happens to them is of primary concern to the foundation, which also promotes sustainable development, improved neighborhoods, and culture and knowledge as pathways to building a better society.
These 20 years of love, hope and giving back has touched countless lives in Los Cabos as a direct result of the foundation’s philanthropic missions in health care, social care and community development.
In 2018, the Letty Coppel Foundation acquired its first mobile medical unit to serve the Los Cabos region. It was the first of its kind in Baja California Sur. The unit’s medical aid assistance benefits 600 people per month with services including general medicine, dentistry, mammography, gynecology, densitometry and more. Medical personnel are supplied by the local government. Health programs are carried out in a committed, responsible manner in Cabo’s neediest, most populous neighborhoods.
Thanks to local philanthropic support, a much-needed second mobile medical unit has been acquired and is now available. During the Quivira Owner´s St. Patrick’s Day-themed cocktail party on March 12, owners had the opportunity to admire the new, fully-equipped unit, which functions as a hospital on wheels.
With a pair of mobile medical units to meet the needs of the region’s disadvantaged barrios, the foundation’s Community Development pillar has doubled its ability to address the health issues of those most in need.
The new mobile medical unit follows the debut of the Letty Coppel Assistance Center in 2021. Designed to lend a helping hand to the needy, the Assistance Center and mobile medical units are further proof that while Los Cabos is a glamorous, world-class destination that caters to upscale travelers, Pueblo Bonito Resorts and Quivira Los Cabos actively share in life-changing work to strengthen families within local communities through charitable outreach.
"As founder and president of the Letty Coppel Foundation, it is a privilege to be able to witness such a special achievement, which has been made possible thanks to the unwavering support of everyone in the community,” said Ms. Coppel. “For two decades, the Letty Coppel Foundation has dedicated itself to benefiting every person in the communities that need it most and to improving their quality of life.
“There is nothing like giving back and having a positive influence on other people,” she added. ”Having the opportunity to improve people’s lives is not only a wonderful opportunity, but also a responsibility that we all have. I am blessed to be able to do this.”
