The quest for Quivira
An ancient legend
Quivira takes its name from an ancient legend about seven cities of gold. The story, inspired from a historic event in 1150 when Mérida, Spain was conquered, involves seven bishops who fled with sacred religious relics hoping to protect them from the invading Moors. According to legend, each of the seven bishops founded cities in lands far away. One of the cities was called “Quivira” where streets were said to be paved with gold. Such was the promise that ushered in the Golden Age of Exploration when explorers like Coronado, Pizarro and Cortez crossed uncharted waters to discover the new world.
A land of discovery
Years later, the dream continued to live on in the hearts and minds of sailors as they navigated the Pacific coastline, steering around the tip of the Baja Peninsula. Today, locals refer to it as Paraiso Escondido — Mexico’s Hidden Paradise. Now home to Quivira, Cabo’s finest luxury residential community, rather than gold and rare gems, precious natural beauty and enriching experiences await. And just as the myth took on a life of its own, Quivira too will inspire stories by family and friends — stories based on new adventures and unforgettable moments that will be passed on from generation to generation.
